Her first appearance on television was during the latter half of 1990 and was later seen in numerous films including The Woods, Blue Car Murder by Numbers Blood and Chocolate as well as The Anna Nicole Story. Bruckner started acting when she was just 11 years old. The actress appeared in commercials on some television pilots as well as on the daytime soap show The Bold and the Beautiful in 1999. When she was 15 years old, Bruckner had her first leading character in the production Blue Car (2002) in which she played the role of a student at high school who is having an affair with her teacher played by David Strathairn. Roger Ebert said that Bruckner performed the role with aplomb. Bruckner was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for "Best female role in a film" in this part. Her family consisted of three siblings, two sisters and a brother. Hungarian was her mother tongue and she used it frequently to maintain her fluency. Bruckner grew up in Hollywood, California with a Hungarian mother and a Russian father. They have divorced. Her paternal grandfather was German and died in the past. They were introduced in Hungary. The couple immigrated to into the U.S. through an Italian refugee camp. She is the mother of two sisters, and a brother.
